Positive Impact's Michael Rowe Honored with Team Walker's Hero Award

18th ANNUAL EVENING OF DREAMS GALA A SUCCESS

 

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY - Team Walker's annual benefit gala, the Evening of Dreams, took place on October 10, 2019 at The Liberty House in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Positive Impact assists Team Walker with the planning and execution of their marketing campaigns and fundraising events throughout the year.  The programs which Team Walker delivers provide positive role models to encourage students to realize their capabilities, enjoy a sense of accomplishment, and offer an opportunity to increase their quality of life for years to come. 

This year’s Evening of Dreams honorees included Michael Rowe, President and CEO of Positive Impact and recipient of the Hero Award. The Hero Award recognizes an individual who continuously assists in the greater good of the organization while operating behind the scenes.

Also receiving honors at this year’s gala were George Dailey, Senior Vice President and Controller of The Provident Bank and recipient of the Pop Curry Award; and Patrick Dunne, Managing Director of BFI and recipient of the Leo Zatta Award. These exemplary team members have demonstrated extraordinary service to Team Walker, its mission and the children.

The Evening of Dreams gala featured a silent auction, cocktail hour, dinner, fireworks and motivational speakers. The gala also delivered star power with ESPN’s Bob Ley acting as the event’s master of ceremonies, a surprise appearance by WNBC-TV’s lead sports anchor and emmy award winning reporter Bruce Beck, as well as Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin who delivered the invocation. Students from Team Walker’s After School Program assisted with the night’s greetings and festivities.

Team Walker also honored Ms. Rosalyn Libran as Teacher of the Year, recipient of the Robin L. Cunningham Award, and Jonathan Loayes as Student of the Year. Ms. Libran and Jonathan have demonstrated exemplary dedication, determination and discipline to Team Walker, forever shaping and empowering the minds, bodies and souls of all Team Walker students, staff and teachers.

“The Evening of Dreams gala is really important to the operations of Team Walker and helps keep our programs free for the Jersey City youth,” said Jerry Walker, CEO of Team Walker. “The banquet represents the future and provides a ‘beacon of hope’ to our youth. The Evening of Dreams allows our kids to dream and gives them the tools and opportunities to succeed and better their quality of life.”

Team Walker is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for the children of Jersey City, New Jersey, by nourishing their minds, bodies and souls through year-round academic and enrichment programs. Serving over 500 children annually since 1996, Team Walker provides safe and constructive alternatives to the negative influences plaguing inner-city youth.
