Thom Meredith

Event operations assistant

Thom Meredith is an event management professional and one of North America's leading soccer administrators. He has spent over 30 years in the sports industry, much of it in domestic and international soccer, and has been directly involved in the operational aspects in every major international soccer event held in the United States since 1984.

Before starting his own event management company, Thom Meredith Inc. in 2004, and acting as senior contractor to Positive Impact, he served four years as Vice President of Operations and Special Events for the 8-teamWomen'sUnited Soccer Association. In that position he had the primary staff responsibility for all day of game standards, procedures and on field requirements for teams and match officials.

Meredith also worked as the Director of Event Operations for American soccer's National Governing Body, the U.S. Soccer Federation, for over a decade. While there he was responsible for national team event administration and presentation and negotiated stadium rental agreements.

Meredith worked in press operations at the Rose Bowl for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and also acted as the Day of Game Producer for the medal round matches at the 1996 Olympics in Athens, GA. He worked in the same capacity for the Chicago venue at the 1994 FIFA Men's Soccer World Cup and had senior event responsibilities for both the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women's soccer World Cup held in the United States.

He has served a variety of multi-national clients to date including the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg, South Africa in prepara­tion of the 2010 FIFA World Cup; industry leader Transport Graphics International; the Government of Bermuda; New York-based Soccer United Marketing, a sister company of Major League Soccer and as an operations consultant to the new women's pro soccer league, Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) that commenced play in April 2009.

For the past three years, Meredith's company has also acted as Exhibits Show Manager at US Youth Soccer's national workshop held at major convention center venues across the United States having the primary responsibility of selling booth space and servicing clients attending the exhibit area portion of this annual event.

Meredith was the Event Producer for the first ever event at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, a soccer sellout involving famed Euro­pean soccer club Manchester United and also worked on the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup which was played in 9 countries during March­ April, 2007. His company also coordinated on behalf of Soccer United Marketing all of the domestic team movements for Spanish super club FC Barcelona during its three city swing in August 2006 and August 2008 as well as last summer's August 2009 USA Tour of Los Ang­eles, Seattle and San Francisco.

During his career, Meredith worked in the public relations department for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League and acted as the Prime Responsibility Person for major men's tennis events staged by World Championship Tennis (WCT)  in Florida and London.
