Team Walker Fundraiser a Huge Success
After the success of the “Conversations with Coaches” event in 2020, Team Walker decided to bring back the “Conversation” series with Positive Impact producing a second event for them. This year’s event featured another all-star lineup. Moderated by Emmy Award winner Bob Ley, the panelists included Jerry Walker, Danny Hurley, Bryan Caver and coach P.J. Carlesimo, all members of the 1992-1993 SHU Basketball Big East Championship Team. The event, “Cocktails and Conversation”, was held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey and featured a silent auction, on-site hand-rolled cigars by Cortez Cigars and a putting contest by Golf Pro Delivered.
“After weighing the pros and cons, Team Walker once again decided to cancel their “Evening of Dreams”, the largest fundraiser of the year, and instead move forward with “Cocktails and Conversation” said Positive Impact’s Director of Event Operations, Bill Tuccillo. “Our team organized another great event all while following CDC guidelines for a safe gathering and everything ran seamlessly. Most importantly, Team Walker was able raise significant funds through this limited capacity event thanks to sponsors and donors that supported Team Walker both in-person and in-kind” commented Tuccillo.
Positive Impact worked with the venue to organize the event and secured all the vendors in addition to making sure everything was in place and followed a script. Coach Carlesimo participated virtually but that didn’t stop him from reminiscing and cracking off a few jokes with his former players who all were on hand to show their support for Team Walker. At the end of the panel discussion, Bob Ley presented Jerry with a surprise award celebrating 25 years of Team Walker and all their amazing accomplishments along the way.
